Meet maggie risson
Antiques & vintage is a family tradition for Maggie Risson the owner of Collector & Curator. Growing up she often accompanied her grandmother to country auctions where, at a very young age, she developed a keen eye for treasures from the decades past. This ardent curiosity was nurtured by her mother and aunt as they would wake up before dawn on weekends to hunt for finds.
Maggie worked for more than a decade in fashion, while simultaneously returning to school to study at the New York School of Interior Design. The classes she enjoyed the most were Historical Styles, which were an overview of furniture and architecture throughout history. It was those exciting lectures that galvanized her decision to supplement her coursework with a few antique appraisal classes at NYU which included weekly visits to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. History repeats itself, as her father had worked there in the early 1970s helping build spaces for exhibitions.
Fast forward and love eventually brought Maggie to Switzerland where she has been living for over 11 years. Frequent travel to neighboring countries, Geneva is just a stones throw to France and Italy, and a love for the decorative arts informs her ability to artfully blend styles and periods ranging from contemporary to the traditional. Today she is joined by her two sons as she carries on this tradition with the next generation.
